Turnkey Cocoa Processing System – Food Manufacturing
- Maintenance & Service
When a food processor needed a complete cocoa grinding, milling, and packaging system installed in their New Jersey facility, they needed more than just equipment installers—they needed problem-solvers. Equipment delays, tight warehouse constraints, and the complexity of integrating multiple process systems required a crew that could adapt on the fly while maintaining strict food-grade standards. Anton Installers managed the entire installation from structural modifications to final commissioning.

What Needed to Be Done
The client purchased a complete cocoa processing system designed to grind and mill cocoa cakes into fine powder, then package it into weight-designated bags for shipping. Our scope included installing owner-supplied equipment and process piping, plus furnishing and installing compressed air, nitrogen, and glycol distribution systems throughout the facility.
The system required three 8,000-gallon classified cooling vessels to support the milling process, and bulk storage capacity via two 55,000-gallon silos and one 35,000-gallon silo. Equipment included grinders, mills, conveyors, dust collection, bagging stations, and a complete network of process piping to move material through the self-contained system.
International equipment shipments arrived late and off-schedule. When equipment finally showed up, the existing warehouse layout didn’t accommodate the original system design. We needed to modify equipment placement, fabricate custom stands and supports, and make building modifications—all while maintaining food-grade installation standards and keeping the project moving forward.
How We Made It Happen
We started by addressing the space constraints. Building modifications created the clearance needed for equipment installation and proper access for future maintenance. As equipment arrived, we assessed each piece against the available footprint and developed modified placement strategies that maximized the warehouse space without compromising system function or safety.
Custom fabrication became a major part of the project. We built a hoist frame with beam to support the dump station equipment that initiates the cocoa processing cycle. Equipment stands were fabricated to support process piping and system components, ensuring everything was anchored safely and positioned for long-term operational stability and maintenance access.
Rigging and setting the bulk storage silos and cooling vessels required precision planning. We coordinated crane lifts, positioned the vessels within their structural support frames, and ensured proper alignment for piping connections. All stainless steel glycol piping, nitrogen lines, compressed air distribution, and cocoa process piping were installed to food-grade specifications with full documentation.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with equipment vendors, process engineers, and the facility team to coordinate system integration. Equipment that didn’t fit as designed was modified in the field. Piping runs were rerouted to work with the updated layout. Custom supports were fabricated and installed as needed.
The result: a fully functional, turnkey cocoa processing system that grinds cocoa cakes, mills them into fine powder, and packages the finished product into shipping-ready bags—all within a facility that wasn’t originally designed to hold it.
